There is discipline in A Soldier you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in A Soldier you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier that he will not compromise.
There is something in A Soldier that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier that beats from his heart.
A Soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you.
A Soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier even while he sleeps.
A Soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian - I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier remember what they do.
A Soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave protecting you and me. Captain Maxwell Adams MAHAMA. You were a brave and great soldier. You will always be remembered......Innocent Cole

On behalf of the entire student body of CENTRAL UNIVERSITY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION OF GHANA- (PASAG) , I wish to express my sincere heartfelt and condolences to the widow and the children. I wish to state that, eventhough Capt. Maxwell Mahama is gone, his brave and patriot life will forever be remembered. A man who died fighting the wrongs in the society, trying to make the society better for his people. We the young and upcoming ones in the medical field will ensure that aside our medical activities, we will be ambassadors for change and fight the shameful and ill-way of approaching issues in this great nation of ours.

Ghana needs us.
Ghana needs you.
Ghana needs your comportment.
We are one Ghana.

The words of the John Wesley in the methodist Hymnal is what I will end with.

The fathers, named In story;
And praise the Lord who now as then

It is rather overly heart wrenching that such barbaric action can be meted out to a human being and a fine gentleman like you were. Prayer is that this unfortunate incident which should not have happened at all, serves as a catalyst for the cessation to such barbaric happenings. Captain, you are a hero and will continue to be one forever. Requiescat in pace.

A Poem:
Remember Me
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
But remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
Although my death causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt,
shown love to my killers,
my gun a weapon at the point of death
sang a love song (poow! poooow!! in air)
not to kill any and given me relief.
So dry your eyes (Ghana) and remember me,
not as I am now,
but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all,
and look on with a smile.
Understand in your hearts,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.

Acts 7:54-56
"When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
We understand death only after it has placed its hands on someone we love.
Rest in the bosom of the Lord Captain.

I have encountered you in person four times.
First time was at Labadi beach. We were teenagers. Maybe about 12-14 years old...I can't remember. But I know you were still in AIS at the time. You approached my friend and I and introduced yourself. "My name is Maxwell Adam 😄". You wanted to be friends. You said you had come to the beach with your family. "That's my brother", you pointed. I believe that was Michael. I said "ah are you not the one in kokrokoo?" And you replied, "oh that's my twin brother Maxwell Adams. My name is Maxwell Adam" 😂
I didn't see you again until you came to visit Damian (your brother from another mother) in school at the university. Destiny has a funny way, huh? We both recounted the day at the beach. That's when we started to keep constant contact.
You were a marksman by then and Damian was so proud of you! Later, you were posted to the Castle and at the same time, you wanted to go to school. You told me how you struggled with the schedule and lectures.
"Hmm...Samira it's hard oo. I want to go to class and these people want to keep me here. I have to beg the lecturer later for notes", you would tell me.
You persisted and more than the usual number of years later you finally got your degree. I was so happy for you. When you went on peacekeeping, we lost contact again.
Third time I met you was at the army mess when I came by to see Ekow. We had a long chat despite the gap in our communication from before. We were so happy to have reconnected.
You spoke of how you had started your masters degree online and was using Barbara's online library of books because they were so helpful. You spoke of wanting Jaden to be a pilot. We had a very good long conversation about life in general.
The fourth time we met was at the Accra mall. In fact you were the one who spotted me and my friend. You just dragged us to one of the counters to help fill out your questionnaires 😂. You were about completing the masters you had told me about before. I was happy about that. You mentioned you even wanted to do another masters degree soon after this one.
What happened after filling your questionnaire is what I just cannot shake off since I heard the horrible news of your death.
We talked (for hours) outside in my car. Then we got hungry. Gifty wanted a certain drink and you wanted donuts so we went back inside to get those. We came back to the car and continued chatting. You just wanted to spend the time with us talking. You didn't want it to end but we had to part.
The photo is the one we took just before parting ways. I've lost the ones we took inside while filling your questionnaires. You took them with your phone. I wish you could airdrop them to me again.
So maybe the fifth time I encounter you, I'll be saying goodbye 😭😭😭💔

I always smile when I think of you, Maxwell. Despite the pain and sorrow, your memory only brings joy. You were always smiling, even when you weren't saying anything.
Rest well, noble soldier. Vengeance is the Lord's. May you be free of all the pain. Rest well in the bosom of the Lord.

My concern now is how we the youth can protect each other's interest and avoid such an ungodly behavior.
I cannot stop moaning anytime I came across any thing "Mahama" whiles it reminds me of a dedicated youthful man who was vacated from this earth by his own peers and I mean the youth.
I am made to accept the fact that the Captian's pains to his death is a process to the redemption of our security, legal and educational educational institutions.
Meanwhile, as Captian leaves this earth and we stay behind, I pray God to unite us through Captain's death and fall on us the sense of belonging that we may commit any thing bothersome to our rightful institutions that they may do whatever so due than to keep shedding blood of the innocent soul.
Captian, Rest well. The heavens is yours!

Dear Barbara, Captain (Rtd) Adams Mahama, Maxwell's Mom, the two beautiful sons, siblings, and the entire family. All Ghanaians located in Ghana and abroad are truly horrified and gutted by the senseless killing of the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama. Your husband, father, son, and brother was taken from you when he had a promising and brilliant future ahead of him. We deeply appreciate his sacrifice and service to the people of Ghana. We are truly sorry, saddened, and at a loss of words to comfort you. We hope that memories of the times that you spent together will give you some comfort. We also pray that God comforts all of you during this trying time. May Maxwell's dearest and beloved soul rest in eternal peace! Amen.

I stood and I watched as a mother cried,
when she had heard that her son had died.
He didn't die because he was sick,
or he didn't die because he was in a wreck.
He died doing what he felt was right.

I watched a father try to hold back his tears,
His son had lived only a scant 31years.
His son had died nine thousand miles away,
And what was there left for a father to say?
He got down on his knees and said a prayer,
His brave son knows his father did care. I stood and I watched as a mother cried,
when she had heard that her son had died.
He didn't die because he was sick,
or he didn't die because he was in a wreck.
He died doing what he felt was right.

The labourer's task is over!
The work is done.
The Master (God) is pleased,
For us men, we cannot know
The Master's will.

God, receive your servant,
For you sent him for a purpose.
It is only you who know is required,
And what he has attained.

As we are pilgrims of this earth,
Naked we came, naked shall we go.
Time is ticking slowly
For everybody's passage.

Rest in peace, Capt. Maxwell Adam Mahama!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the Gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

FOR CAPTAIN MAXWELL MAHAMA – OUR HERO

Oh no!
What have we done?
why did we do it?
he was so young, full of life
brave and selfless
so loving, a doting husband
a caring father, a patriot in uniform

What have we done
Like fickle wind
so sudden
we snuff out his life
with sticks, stones, missiles

He could have shot his way to life
the mob but child play
he who wielded missiles of justice and peace
but opting to be the sacrificial lamb
on the alter of galamsey

What have we done?
we decorate and garnish
our greed and avarice
we gloss our wanton desecration
of all that we hold sacred
with paints dripping sugar and bile

Words, words and words
all meaningless
even as we sleep with the Chinese
on beds crusted in gold
dredged from the pits of earth
oh yes, on golden beds
we sell our youth, our future, our souls

And Maxwell, beautiful Maxwell
the sacrificial lamb
on the alter of galamsey
the hero who has become the blight
on our nation’s conscience

Rest, Maxwell Rest. So long!

Recently when you joined us on the platform I was amazed a day proud of the person you grew up to be. Your exit is the most painful I have experienced and I keep asking God many questions. Hopeful for a change in our thinking and actions.
Hopeful that such savage acts will not be part of our culture.
You paid the ultimate price to save many more from this kind of barbaric death.
Your death gave us the voice to speak up against mob actions.

Is it by the months or years given in service?

How do you measure a soldier's courage?
Is it by the number of objectives completed,
Or by the number of bullets dodged or missions served?

How do you measure a soldier's honor?
Is it by the duty he or she volunteers for,
Or by the number of medals earned?

The simple truth is that these things are immeasurable,
As is this country's debt to all who serve,
And pay the price for freedom in this land.

Gallant soldier, you paid the ultimate price for your country, the country you loved so much and served very well. May your death always be remembered for the Change in Attitude that it has to be given to us all; as individuals and as a nation. May it never be said again that we are so wicked to our fellow humans especially Ghanaians. May your death always awaken the conscience of our society particularly the leaders of our Country to give to their people an effective and efficient judiciary and security forces! May your death be that turning point in which we will truly search, find and live the ideals of a noble society! You ain't dead! You will forever live on in our hearts. Major Mahama, Return If Possible, if not Rest in Perfect Peace, bro! Your legacy will always live on!

"Oh when the Saints go marching in
When the Saints go marching in
Oh Lord, I want to be in the number
When the Saints go marching in..."

With heavy hearts, I pray for divine comfort and protection for the wife, the two young boys, the parents and the entire family of our Fallen Hero.

Hard lessons will be drawn from the uncivilized events leading to his unfortunate demise.

Into the Lord's Hands, I commit the gentle Spirit of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.

Onuapa, Nante yie...

I see the selflessness, the gentleness and the greatness of courageous hero. Your gentle and kind demeanour is seen even in your photos. Painfully taken in your prime in the most unthinkable fashion, yet left great legacy. Every time I see your pictures in the news, sadness fill my heart. I didn't watch the video of the time you came under attack; But I like the video of you swimming very much. How could another human being carry out such evil on another human? Did those evil savages not see the good you stand for? Then it dawned on me, as a combat soldier, you choose to lay down your life for an underserved people. At your darkest hour, you still fought and gave as a noble soldier. May your death not be in vain. May justice prevail. May great change come to Ghana today. If I could feel such pain, I can imagine what your wife, children & parents be doing. and so I pray for them. I pray that one day I get the opportunity to visit them in memory of you. May God comfort them and fill the void created by your painful and untimely exit. Though I'm not in the homeland, I pledge support For the cause of which you died courageously: illegal mining and corruption. RIP brother, RIP soldier RIP old saint, RIP Major. May God grant you eternal rest and keep you safe till the day of his coming. Emelia from North America

I salute you Major Maxwell Adam! Words cannot describe how I feel, As a mother of a soldier; a wife, a sister, a woman and a fellow Ghanaian. I am deeply sad and heart broken about your senseless death. Oh how I wish we could go back in time to undo this injustice. But God, who knows all things and sees all things will bring justice. To our human minds, we cannot understand, but I believe that God does, and as the Song writer wrote: " We will understand it better by and by.

Trials dark on ev’ry hand,
And we cannot understand,
All the ways that God would lead us
To that blessed Promised Land;
But He guides us with His eye
And we’ll follow till we die.
For we’ll understand it better by and by

By and by when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We will tell the story how we overcome
We will understand it better by and by.

Rest in Peace Major, May God himself comfort your family and fill the void created.
You are gone but not forgotten.

Maxwell, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Barbara, it is difficult but in everything we would say thank you God, because his plans for us are good and not evil to bring us a hope and a future. Someday, we would all understand why our faithful God took Max away from us this way.
